The Committee would like to wish everyone in Warren Wood a very Merry Christmas and are pleased to announce Carol Singers and Residents raised over £140 for the charity ‘Changing Faces’

There was an excellent show of Christmas lights and the Carol singers agreed ‘Best Christmas light show’ belonged to the Godley family for a 2nd year running (39 The Briars).  Closely followed and highly commended were the Boniszewskis family (17 WWD) and the Woodhouse family (31 The Briars).

Chiltern Rangers are continuing their footpath / glade work in Deangarden Wood from 10.15am. Families and friends welcome.

Location: Basically walk along Lime Avenue continue straight over the bridleway and along the bottom path in Deangarden Wood for about 225m until you come to a footpath that turns right heading straight up the slope (there should be evidence of felling / marked up trees) and that’s where we will be starting.  There should hopefully be a Chiltern Rangers truck parked at that point / very close by.

Timing 10.15am +: John Tay (Chiltern Rangers) will be walking to the work site with National Citizen Service (NCS) from the Rye and, if they are on time, should be there for  around 10.15. John Shaw should be on site from about 10.00 and we will start work after everyone has had a task / safety briefing. The session with NCS is timed to finish for around 1.45 – 2.00pm but there is absolutely no expectation for WWRA residents to stay until then – just come along for whatever amount of time is convenient. There will be about 12 students (16-18 y/o) from the NCS with their supervisor / mentor.

It will be a practical session of tree felling / thinning and possibly dead-hedging and / or a fire.

Families are very welcome to come along (children under 18 must be supervised / accompanied by responsible adult) and there will be some tasks that younger children could do with supervision / adult help. We will be working our way up the path and it’s quite steep so worth bearing in mind if anyone has very young children with them!

As usual Chiltern Rangers will provide tools / gloves as well as tea, coffee and biscuits. The only other requirement is that people dress appropriately for the weather and have suitable footwear.

Out of about 40 very scary Halloween characters 1st, 2nd and 3rd places went to Zac, Matthew and Lucy.

If children and parents are able to assemble on the Green at 5.30pm before ‘Trick or Treating’ we can take photos and judge ‘the most scary character’ and win a prize. 

Sunset is 4.30pm (clocks fall back on the Sunday 29th)

 

 

Last week John delivered all 59 Village Green Questionnaires on our behalf by hand to Bucks County Hall in Aylesbury.

Please all congratulate yourselves for such an excellent response (70% of all residents)

Hi all residents of WWRA, you’re invited to take part in our annual roving dinner party.  There are 3 courses followed by a party.  You are asked to do one course for 3-4 couples and are invited anonymously to the others.  This is one of our most popular events going back over twenty years and great way to get to know your neighbours and catch up with ones you haven’t seen for a while.  See link.

10am start from public car park on Coldmoorholme Lane, Bourne End just past the Spade Oak Pub

5km (3 mile) flat walk along both sides of the Thames finishing at the car park with the option of Sunday lunch at 1200

Spade Oak opens at 11am and Sunday lunches served from 12am. Dogs allowed in the bar area. Booking Sunday lunch in the Restaurant is necessary but not in the bar area. Please make your own booking if you are planning lunch in the restaurant.
